Question: How to properly configure NGINX Webserver behind NIGNX Proxy Manager

Wondering if anyone can share a guide somewhere.

I am trying to run NGINX web server behind NGINX Proxy Manager (NPM). NPM is running fine. It is getting the SSL certificate via Letsencrypt.

Question is should NPM forward traffic to port 80 or http to the webserver behind it or https 443? for 443, how do I sync up the SSL certificate that's located on NPM with the NGINX Webserver? I don't mind unencrypted traffic between NPM and the NGINX Webserver, how do I configure it properly to run NGINX webserver off port 80? Is there anything I need to do for NPM?

Thanks for all the help.

  1. Npm is docker..
What is nginx…on docker or running on host? Are nginx instances on different machines or on same docker network?
