Because OneTab appears to suck. I've just lost over 400 saved tabs due to something that was apparently already a thing 3 years ago! https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/76k23b/onetab_lost_all_tabs_recovery/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I only have two LDB files left, which I hope I can somehow recover. But I don't want to rely on this extension in the future. So recommendations for alternatives would be nice.
Sorry to hear about your data loss. Check out my cross browser open source extension [TabMerger](https://www.github.com/lbragile/TabMerger).
You can click on one of the browser icons in the README file to go to the correct browser’s web store.
TabMerger uses web storage API to ensure that your data is saved locally and can even be synced across your devices. Along with many other useful features, you can be sure to never lose your data. Be on the lookout for many more essential features (group drag and drop, url dnd directly into TabMerger, locking/starring groups, etc.) coming soon, after final testing, in the next version.
Better OneTabs is good, it used to have syncing to google but I don’t think. It’s supported anymore but still good, if you want to backup just backup the extension folder.
I personally like Toby, same set of features as OneTab + much more.
Checkout [Partizion ](https://www.partizion.io/). It’s paid but it’s reliable and restorable from any browser/device.
Check out [Toast](https://dotoast.com) with their cloud back up.
If you want to find a better, really better alternatives for OneTab, I recommand you to get [**Keptab**](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/keptab/feodekcipceogpeomnijgmdlmocbggbi)
Keptab is similar to OneTab, but more powerful to OneTab
