Seems like even Docker is admitting Kubernetes is winning the orchestration battle. I’ll just be happy when there’s only one I need to worry about making deployments for.
Edit: Spelling
I was just in a meeting with some folks with Docker about this very thing. They said you can even run Kubernetes and Swarm side-by-side on the same host.
going thru the docs 2 years ago was hell. i hope this means they will make the pill easier to swallow. better docs would go a long way. that said, i’ll have to go back and check now. just saying i didn’t like kubernetes back then.
This was pretty predictable… k8s was designed to be loosely coupled from the get go…
It’s CNI compatibility already supports runc and clear containers which i think will gradually get more and more traction i hope (if only for their improved security and keeping docker competitive)
I wonder if this is related to the announcement from RedHat around CRI-O!
Everyone seems to get on board at the moment, which is great! I wish AWS also had PaaS offering for it.
Does that mean minikube will no longer be necessary for local testing?

Here’s the actual announcement, instead of a third party blog: https://blog.docker.com/2017/10/kubernetes-docker-platform-and-moby-project/

> If you’re a Swarm user, expect no disruption.
1 year later: Docker ditch swarm for Kubernetes.

Does this mean we need to start ditching MesOS?
Lol.
It’s good that Docker is honest with everyone that swarm sucks.
Docker EE? No thanks
